Ways To Join The Church:
We would love to have you as a member of First United Methodist Church of Moultrie.
Adult Baptism/Profession of Faith: Baptism is the initiation into the Christian family with roots reaching back to the ancient Jews and the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River. For the first Christians, it was the mark of God's cleansing you. It is a symbol of that washing still for us today. Profession of Faith is the public acceptance of Christian faith and the expression of the desire to live the Christian life as a disciple of Jesus Christ and a member of His church.
Transfer of Membership: We recognize the baptism and membership vows of all other churches. A person who has been a member of another church may join our United Methodist church by transfer. We write a letter to the former church requesting the membership of the person be "transferred" to us.
Infant Baptism: Persons of all ages receive God's love. Infant Baptism is a sign that we acknowledge God's love for all. This is step one in a two-step process which is completed with the decision of the child, at the appropriate age, to choose the Christian faith and life. At that point, the child goes through Confirmation.
Confirmation: For children or youth, this step confirms a child's earlier Baptism and faith. It is the second step of a two-step process which begins with Baptism of an infant or at any age whether the person is a child, youth, or adult. Our Confirmation Class for youth lasts for several weeks and includes study times and a weekend retreat.
How Do I Join First United Methodist Church?
If it is your desire to become part of First United Methodist Church, please come to the front of the sanctuary during the closing hymn at the worship service. This allows Rev. Wright to greet and introduce you to the congregation. It also gives the congregation the privilege of renewing their vows of membership with you. The membership vows are the commitments that everyone must make individually but are the common bonds that provide the ministry and outreach of the church.
You may want to be in touch with Rev. Wright ahead of time. Please contact the church office: pmitchell@mediacombb.net.
